Zero to 5K: Getting Started

Congratulations! You decided to take on the SkinnyMs. Training Schedule and in only 8 weeks you will be ready to run your first 5K race. This portion of your training is the most crucial, it is the time when you will mold yourself into the runner you want to be. It is important to teach yourself good form, routine, and habits that you will keep for the remainder of your training.

Work on your form. It is still early in your training and the best time to learn how to run properly, before bad habits are set. When running, make sure your back is straight and your core is engaged, always hit the pavement in the center of your foot then roll forward to your toes, remember to keep your neck and arms from tensing up during the run, and work on steady breathing.
