Haven’t stuck to your fitness goals? Don’t throw in the towel just yet. Simply re-commit to the resolutions you made on the first day of this year. All you need is to do is amp up your motivation levels.
By now, we’re well into the year and some of us have already forgotten about our promises to start dieting and exercising. You may even have started right but have lost your way at some point. Even so, it’s not too late to get back into the swing of things. According to studies, the average person makes the same resolution ten separate times without success. Don’t let this year’s goals be carried over to 2017. It’s time to re-commit to those resolutions.
Do what you enjoy
Most of the time, you read about an amazing workout programme that has been said to blast hundreds or even thousands of calories. It’s super intense so you try it. The problem is; you don’t enjoy it. In addition to that, it is so hard you can barely make it through 10 minutes, let alone the entire workout. Does that sound like something you would want to stick to in the long run? No. Rather try what you enjoy. If that is dance-inspired workouts or low- impact step aerobics, then so be it. You may not burn as many calories, but you are more likely to return the next day. Consistency is the key to success.
Get a workout buddy
Sometimes exercising with a buddy is the difference between missing a workout and actually making it to the gym. It’s just no fun waking up at the crack -of -dawn to exercise, but if you are having a gym session with your friends, it’s less likely that you will cancel it. A workout buddy also motivates you during the sweat session. Sometimes all you need is someone to tell you to keep going!
Track your workouts
Some people like to work out first thing in the morning, while others choose to go to gym after work or during their lunch break. Whatever time you prefer, be sure to schedule your daily exercises. Mark it off in your diary or list of things to do – as you would for an appointment or meeting. There are also a number of fitness applications that you can download to your phone. You’ll be able to track your workouts and calories burned.
