What do you snack on in a dark movie theater, while catching the latest blockbuster? What do you and the kids prepare before a night in front of the TV? Popcorn! This salty, crunchy snack may seem like an indulgence, but if you skip the microwaveable variety with the additives and butter substitutes, you can serve up a truly healthy, fiber-rich, low calorie snack! Pop your popcorn on the stove to cut down on fat and calories.
Simply add three tablespoons of canola oil to a pan, turn the stove to medium heat, and add two kernels of popping corn. When those kernels are warm enough to pop, add the amount of kernels you like, and cover with a lid. Shake the pan lightly while the popcorn pops, and when you hear the popping stop, turn off the heat. Wait a few minutes, and remove the lid to serve your popcorn, using one of our favorite popcorn recipes.
